It was built from powerful magics and lost technologies from a civilization that dwelled on Sardia Isle known as the Aegans. The Sardians built the Colossus, and upon activating it, they realized that they had no means to control their creation as it took the will of a mage greater than any the world of Philanthrasia had ever known. Without a suitable means of control, the Colossus embarked on a reign of terror that would first devour Ghelia, the brithplace of the Colossus, and extend throughout the known world. This is but the beginning. The Port City of Zelphir - Once the Colossus had destroyed Ghelia, it wandered aimlessly. Or so it seemed to the terrified Sardians, who in fear of their lives fled the countryside in favor of taking the risky trek through the Shilhavian Sea to the south unto the Isle of Marnek. For each place of civilization the Colossus encountered, it destroyed. The Colossus's last destination on Sardia Isle was the port city of Zelphir, one of Sardia's most active cities. However, hearing word of the Colossus's coming, most had fled and the Sardian army had amassed. Prepared to battle the Colossus to the death, their objective was to contain the gargantuan menace within Sardia and to keep its chaos from spreading throughout the world. However, a victory for the Sardian armies was never to be. In one fell swoop, the Colossus exterminated the amassed forces of General Alexandros and proceeded to kill and maim those bold enough to remain in Zelphir. With the city razed and in utter ruins, the Colossus began its trek across the Hilorian Sea to the largest of Philanthrasia's continents, Patarn. The Wilderness of Yaen - With many weeks to prepare for the Colossus's arrival, the great wizard Dregen united an army within the jungle haven of Yaen in hopes of destroying the Colossus with magic. From the protective canopy of the jungle, they would fling spells at the Colossus and slowly wear it down before it could reach the pilings of civilization that litter the continent of Patarn. King Ziegal of the Patarnish Monarchy bestowed the best mages in the kingdom to Dregen. In addition, hundreds of volunteers from Patarn's fiercely pious holy order swarmed the jungles in hopes of destroying the Colossus before it could threaten the very cradle of Philanthrasia's populace. Amidst a dark and gloomy night, the deafening roar of steel and waves alerted the mages to the Colossus's arrival. From scattered locations, they began to muster their mightiest magics to thwart the artificial abomination. However, the Colossus was entirely unfazed by the barrage of magic. It continued to move towards the jungle at the same pace. Fatigued and tired, the wizards were no longer able to sustain an attack on the Colossus. Fleeing for their lives, the Colossus began to rip the jungle from around them. Once exposed, the Colossus would devour the unlucky wizard. Filled with despair and exterminated hope, Dregen gathered all of his strength for one final spectacular spell. He blasted the Colossus with a meteor sent from the heaven's, and died shortly after from draining himself of his very life force. The Colossus was stunned briefly, allowing time for the remaining survivors to escape. However, the massive machine continued its march of doom onto the Patarnish continent at an even faster pace. The Massacre at Palastacio - The Colossus migrates further west, destroying all that stands in its way. It eventually reaches the trading city of Plastacio, one of Patarn's largest cities. The people of the city flee into tunnels that run deep under the earth, hoping to evade the destructive and terrifying grasp of the Colossus. However, their attempts were not to be as the Colossus stammers and stomps and causes the tunnels to collapse, and a massive flow of lava to burst upward from the belly of Philanthrasia. The bane of the Colossus, Unyen has his first encounter with the hulk as it kills his entire family. He flees into the east where the Colossus has already wrought armageddon. There he will see the cost of Sardian ambition..... Devastating Rage - Unyen bares witness to the horrible aftermath of the Colossus's relentless assault. Disheartened, he gathers survivors of the Colossus's massacres and raises forth an army of enraged and hardened individuals. They call themselves the "Survivors of Sardia", and they vow to wreak vengeance upon the great mechanization that has stolen away tens of thousands of lives. Though the Colossus seems unstoppable, as it has destroyed all forces that have so far opposed it. As hope seems dim, he is approached by some Sardian survivors who have pursued the Colossus on its campaign of calamity and chaos... |
